The capacitor voltage balances to its desired value even if the load changes. This self-voltage balancing technique is integrated in the multi-carrier pulse width modulation (PWM). Therefore, it does not require any complicated controllers. Since the capacitor voltage is kept constant at desired level, the output voltage waveform would have symmetrical nine levels with less harmonic distortion even if change in voltage occurs. Simulation is done with MATLAB/Simulink. Abstract
Cascadable nine level inverter uses two PUC5 (Packed U Cell) Inverter topology which have simple controller and better performance, which make use of a new self-voltage-balancing technique for capacitor without any current or voltage sensors. The capacitor voltage balances to its desired value even if the load changes. This self-voltage balancing technique is integrated in the multi-carrier pulse width modulation (PWM).
