Concluding Thoughts

Abstract

Leadership and advocacy in contemporary times will continue to be challenged by the coronavirus pandemic and the systemic racism that has historically permeated institutions and organizations in the United States. The authors are inspired to see the growth of the counseling profession from humble beginnings and feel awakened to undertake the work that has yet to be accomplished to strengthen their profession. They recognize that these profiles provide a limited snapshot of the current state of counseling;their profession is blessed with many more exceptional leaders and advocates and many more who are "in the making". The authors hope future writings explore the narratives of scholars whose focus is specifically on research leadership in counseling. Counseling leadership and advocacy offers a unique and valuable paradigm for training, practice, and research.
