Abstract

Water security is an emerging worldwide goal. The water quality of the Al-Assi River in Lebanon was assessed by measuring major physiochemical and microbiological properties. This study presented the results of these parameters taken from 10 representative sites along the Al Assi River in Lebanon tributaries. Methods of assessment are also detailed in this paper. The findings showed that some physiochemical variables are within the WHO at several sites (1, 2, and 3). On the other hand, severe contamination sites exist in the river water and identified at several points namely at sites 4,6,7, and 9. Coliform presented in the investigated sites indicates an unacceptable level of pollution coming from untreated sewage outfall directly into the river.
Al Assi
