Tourism development at World Heritage Sites.

Abstract

Abstract This chapter first examines tourism development by each pillar (economic, sociocultural and environmental) of the triple bottom line of sustainability. It then explores tourism development specifically at World Heritage sites (WHSs) in terms of the host and guest sides of tourism. A brief case study is presented of the Old Town of Lijiang, a cultural WHS in China.
