The DIAS project – development of an intelligent digital assistant in higher education

Abstract

The following paper will introduce the DIAS project (Digital Intelligent Assistant for Studying and Teaching) hosted at the University of Applied Sciences Ansbach, Germany. In this research project, a digital study assistant based on conversational Artificial Intelligence will be developed. To meet the multi-faceted needs of students in their day-to-day studies, the assistant will have four components: communicator, for answering questions, for conversation, and for mentoring; a planner, for performing time management and course planning; a motivator, for actively managing learning success; and an analyzer, for providing the necessary information about the student's study progress.
