Abstract

Bolt group connections with unequal stiffness are used in many cases. We analyzed the force condition of the bolt group connections with unequal stiffness for withstanding axial load and overturning moment of ordinary bolts. The result was used to obtain the relation formulas between the maximum load-bearing bolt and its corresponding stiffness. As taking connection bolts of reducer case as an example, the loads on bolts with unequal stiffness were calculated when the bolt group connection was affected by composite loads. Force conditions of the bolt were simulated with ANSYS, and the results validated the relation between the maximum load-bearing bolt and its corresponding stiffness.
