Abstract

In this work, wavelets are utilized to perform denoising alongside a deconvolution algorithm in solving the inverse problem in imaging for radio astronomy. In particular, the CLEAN algorithm is utilized to recover an image consisting of user-generated point sources. Wavelet denoising is then applied to both the dirty image before the CLEAN algorithm and to the deconvolved image after the CLEAN algorithm terminates. The results show a clear improvement of the reconstructed image utilizing wavelet denoising in both cases.
