Abstract

This reply to van IJzendoorn and Bakermans-Kranenburg (2022) debates the relevance of deinstitutionalization policies for children in alternative care. In view of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), climate change, and conflict, the gap between available solutions and numbers of children losing parental care is increasing.
