Abstract

Summary In order to achieve the objective for drilling a new section in the well and due to the current scenario , the only alternative was to open a side-track through three casings sizes 11 7/8 “71 lb/ft – 13 3/8 “72 lb/ft - 16” 109 lb/ft, which represented a great challenge for both companies. With these challenges on the table and without worldwide records of jobs alike this operation, the possible risks that could arise during the mill out of these three casing were evaluated. The success of the operation was implicit in the planning and both companies knew it. That being said, the customer and BHGE broke boundaries by planning and succeeding in this outstanding operation
