An Empirical Investigation on the Impact of Increased Financing of the Agricultural Sector on Poverty Reduction, Unemployment and Economic Development in Nigeria.

Abstract

This research work aims to investigate the impact of previous finances allocated to the agricultural sector has had on Nigeria’s economic development and its contributions to poverty and unemployment rate reduction. The research will also investigate based on findings, the impact future increased financing of this sector will equally have on poverty reduction, employment generation and economic development in Nigeria and also, analyse other potentials the agricultural sector has that can impact the growth and development positively and contribute to poverty reduction as well. Based on the result and findings, various development-friendly policies and recommendations will be proffered that will be implemented to contribute favourably in attracting investors both foreign and local, boost these investors’ confidence in this sector. The work will also identify and recommend other potentials the agricultural sector has that can impact positively on the country’s existing potentials.
