Abstract

This paper describes the relationship between the distance from a person to an object and their degree of interest. For the evaluation of educational effects in museums, it is important to estimate the degree of interest in exhibits. A conventional method to estimate the degree of interest by measuring the blink frequency exists. However, if blink frequency cannot be measured, the degree of interest cannot be estimated. Therefore, we proposed a method to estimate the degree of interest using the distance between a person and an object. We measured the interest of the subject while changing their distance from the object. Consequently, a relationship between the degree of interest and the distance from a person to the object was observed.
