Abstract
In this paper, we present the topologies and the performances of the N-port based wireless receivers. Particularly, a comparison between the four-, five- and six-port based receives is conducted. The calibration procedure that compensates for the non-ideal characteristics of the n-port junction and the non-linearity and memory effects of the power detectors for each receiver has been presented. In an attempt to validate the efficiency of each N-port based receiver, a performance metric, such as the error vector magnitude (EVM) between the complex envelop of the transmitted signal and the recovered baseband one, has been adopted.. An experimental validation of the calibration procedures has revealed the efficiency and the superiority of the six-port based receiver with an EVM as low as 2% EVM for different excitation signals.
