Abstract

India is a country that stands in the second position in terms of population count. As per water resource availability in India, it can be said that, though India has sufficient amount of water, due to inadequate water distribution system, India has to bear a considerable amount of water wastage in the several parts of the country. In this line of thought, here we propose a nub less smart tap for public water outlet. Our in-depth study on existing technologies concludes that the current advancements in tap designing are limited with sophisticated deployments as it is highly expensive and delegate to use. Also, we have found that the primary cause of water wastage is public stand posts as it is not appropriately regulated. The careless attitude of citizens towards public properties lead to serious mismanagement towards water resources. Our prototype works through two sub-functions that are sensing and decision making. For sensing we have used the ultrasonic sensor and for decision-based action making, we have used a valve-actuator. The proposed model successfully monitors water losses and saves approximately 39% of the water daily.
