Abstract

is special issue considers personal communications for the mobile user from a European perspective. One recurrent theme is the use of location information in the construction of mobile applications. This arises as a side effect in a small cell communication system in the first article, and also by explicit detection in two later ones. It is used to guide the management of a communications budget in the third article and directly by novel applications in the last two. Location is definitely where it's at!
