Abstract

The study of the cathodoluminescence of a sodalime glass poled with a corona discharge has demonstrated a significant suppression of the cathodoluminescence in the poled region. Also, a decrease of the luminescence of non-bridging oxygen atoms relative to the luminescence of two-coordinated silicon atoms is observed. We associate the poling-induced suppression of the luminescence under electron excitation with the accumulation of a negative charge in the glass, and the drop of the luminescence of non-bridging oxygen – with the modification of the glass structure.
