Review of Smart Transportation and Challenges: Cyber Security Perspective

Abstract

Transportation plays an important role in human life. In this 20th century, whole world is connected via technology. This technological advancement has also changed the transportation sector. Smart Transportation is the need of the society and global development. However, this technological upgradation comes up with cyber security challenges. Advance preparedness and precautionary measures becomes the key to handle the victimized situations. In this paper, smart transportation, its components, security challenges and potential attack vectors in transport sector are discussed. A few global cyber-attack incidents over transportation sector are also studied to analyse the attack mechanism. The essential proactive measures to mitigate possible cyber-attack are discussed to improve the security posture of smart transportation ecosystem.
