Abstract

A simple and cost-effective real-time channel evaluation method suitable for quick channel ranking in adaptive HF systems is suggested. Intended to provide bit error rate monitoring, the proposed method is based on a modification of Gooding's (1968) pseudo error monitoring (PEM) scheme.
