Abstract

The last two years have been incredibly turbulent times for the banking industry, one effect of which has been heightened awareness and scrutiny into bank behaviour, in particular lending. On the one hand banks are being encouraged to lend more to stimulate the economy and assist recovery, but on the other, not to take excessive risks, lend responsibly and be better prepared in case of another 'shock'.
