Abstract
This paper proposes a novel sensitivity analysis using two loss sensitivity indices (LSIs) based on active power to select the most candidate capacitors locations in a radial distribution network (RDN). A correlation parameter for each sensitivity type is proposed. The total active power loss, the buses voltages and the cost of installation are considered in the proposed study. The applicability of the proposed methodology is verified using the standard IEEE-34 test bus system. Simulations carried out in MATLAB to illustrate the accuracy and the appropriateness of the proposed methodology.
