The role of virtual environments in mathematics education: a literature review

Abstract

Virtual learning environments are the focus of attention for teachers, researchers, and students, based on the current contingency because many educational processes migrated to educational platforms, some for private use, others for public use. What are the benefits of using virtual learning environments in mathematics education? The aim of this literature review article is to find out those advantages, disadvantages, benefits, gaps, and areas of opportunity around this topic, by searching for articles published from 2015 to 2021 in the SCOPUS and WOS databases, analyzing the information in a descriptive way, discussing the founds.
