Abstract

This paper focuses on how the radioactive waste is generated, classified, processed, stored, treated and eventually disposed. Understanding and management of these very important processes in nuclear technology result in compliance with nuclear safety regulations. The major public concern over nuclear energy is safety due to a history characterized with disasters and loss of human life. Radiation on one hand sends fear in the population when it comes to accepting the benefits of nuclear energy as a result of radioactive waste.
