A pathway toward smarter city: Build up the strategic application requirement

Abstract

Since the smart city concept has been receiving much attention, the development of the smart city applications is also flourishing as a topic of researchers' interest. The absence of such an approach to deciding whether an application truly supports the smart city goal or not could potentially lead to misunderstanding. This paper, therefore, proposes a formulation of strategic direction which shall be considered in term of building the user requirement in the latter stage. There are two basic approaches currently being adopted in this taxonomy. The first, the static circumstances refer to the understanding of the smart city definition and building block. The second, the dynamic ones relate to the ability of the application for supporting the strategic regulation, drawing from both of local regulation and international standard. This paper also gives an illustration how this approach could be applied in the dentistry area, and consequently, provide a greater advantage.
