Abstract

This article presents some considerations about the need to adapt the school curriculum, as well as the pedagogical practices used to meet the expectations of contemporary society, where it is thought of an inclusive and emancipatory education, concerned with cultural diversities. It will also be presented a successful project that was developed and applied by Professor Barbara da Silva Borges, where it succeeded in making the teaching of mathematics concrete and enjoyable, while at the same time redeeming various aspects of the local culture.
