Agent-Oriented Software Engineering

Abstract

This entry presents a practical perspective on the emerging agent-oriented software engineering (AOSE) paradigm. An industrial-strength multiagent platform and two exemplar development methodologies are described in detail and some issues of communication and quality, unique to multiagent systems, are discussed. Finally, the entry showcases two stories of successful real-world multiagent systems, in contrasting but equally challenging application domains.
