Abstract

Astrology, which has always been considered as pseudoscience, are making more and more people believe in it. The validation of astrology has been done by a few scientists before, however, with the emergence of social network, we can get a data set that is much larger and easier than before to revalidate astrology. In this paper, we choose relationship between sun signs as single aspect to make the validation. First, by using friendship data gathered from Xiami music website, we applied the chi-square test to the data set, which surprising shows static significance between relationship and sun signs. Considering the friendship intensity in the social network such as Xiami is relatively low, we collected the sun sign information of users who are couple in Facebook, again we applied the chi-square test to the data set, interestingly, the result shows no static significance between relationship and sun signs. Our result suggest that under strong relationship there is no static significance between sun-sign and human relationship, however, under weak network there really is a certain level of static significance between sun-sign and human relationship. Interestingly, we find that people with same sun-sign shows more dependency.
