Deontology

Abstract

This chapter considers deontological approaches to medical ethics. It emphasises the importance of duty in moral decision-making. It addresses the idea that human beings should never use one another as a mere means. The chapter also considers some of the challenges posed to deontological thought and the links between deontology and human rights.
