Abstract
This paper presents a preliminary investigation of the Rice factor (K-factor) for a medical in-body wireless channel at 950 MHz. A propagation measurement of the K-factor was conducted in an indoor environment by moving a cylinder phantom filled with salt water with a vertical dipole inside the phantom as transmitting side and an antenna mounted on the phantom surface as receiving side. It is revealed that the K-factor changes mainly due to the variations in the relative internal and external antenna positions, where the dependence on antenna types and polarization properties is relatively not remarkable.
