Abstract
Although cystic lesions are frequently observed in the jaws, their distribution differs between children and adults. During childhood, the three-dimensional growth of the maxillofacial skeleton and the developmental process including the odontogenesis of the teeth affect the distribution of cysts. Knowing the clinical and radiographic findings of cystic lesions, which can be observed frequently in the jaws in this period, is important in terms of making their differential diagnosis and applying the appropriate treatment method. Thus, it is thought that the negative effects of cystic lesions on maxillofacial development can be prevented. In this review, the clinical, radiological, histological features, diagnosis, and treatment methods of cystic lesions, which are common in the jaws in childhood, will be examined.
