This paper explores a new way to locate the fault in compensated network. The distribution networks have more and more loop structures which could bring significant information for the fault location. The proposed method uses the communications that can be brought by a smarter distribution network. Multiple measurements provide an implicit equation of the fault location. This equation reduces the use of badly known parameters. Monte Carlo results are presented to compare the method with single measurement point and the methods with two measurement points. Overhead lines and cables are both studied with PI line model in this paper.
