Abstract
Nowadays, information and communication technology (ICT) has become an important element in our life. Many organizations have started to appreciate the use of ICT in their organizations in making their business more competitive. Our research aims to propose an ICT-supported knowledge transfer frameworks for the family firms. The framework is meant to assist the family firm in strategizing the knowledge transfer in their firm. In this paper, we focused on the technology evaluation process which involve the evaluation and selection of suitable technologies to support the process of knowledge recall and knowledge transfer in the family firms. Knowledge recall is an important part of knowledge transfer process, a crucial step in the family firms' succession plan. The technology evaluation process consists of five steps which include 1) define functional criteria; 2) identify candidate technology based on the functional criteria; 3) assessment of possible conflicts; 4) selection or rejection of the proposed technology; and 5) evaluation results. The results from the technology evaluation process were mapped with the functional criteria and incorporated in the development of the knowledge transfer framework to help the knowledge transfer process in the family firms to become more successful and efficient.
