Abstract

Over the ages, energy has been provided by oil, natural gas, nuclear energy, wood and coke. All these sources provoke pollution problems and they are limited. To overcome these problems, the renewable energy production must be hugely increased, in particular, wind energy. This latter is produced by using wind turbines. The blades play a vital and chief role in the wind turbines where their efficiency depends on the blade material. Indeed, the blade material should respond to several requirements such as: low weight, high stiffness and long fatigue life. The main objective of our paper is to discuss the various materials as candidates for blades and choose the best one using numerical simulations created by ANSYS.
