Abstract
Information systems architecture (ISA) aims to provide an encompassing and integrated environment for both logical design and physical implementation of information systems. The authors propose a framework of information systems architecture by means of object-oriented techniques. Previous research influencing the design consideration is reviewed. Advantages of using the object-oriented approach in developing an ISA are discussed. The proposed ISA framework helps to model multiple organizational layers in a top-down fashion. Explanation of the framework is assisted with a real life example. The design of global meta tables and views is also discussed. The conclusions summarize current research status and set forth future research directions.<>
