Abstract

This brief paper explores how (well) we have translated our interactive in-person lecture activities to online instruction within a large, first-year, required, engineering design, communication, and teamwork course. Using one lecture activity as a case study example of our teaching practices, we explore how well we have situated students in an active learning environment that integrates all domains of the course. Our challenges and success in creating this translation will inform other educators on how to support large active learning classes in these contexts, while focusing on learning for communication professionals.
