Abstract

Wind energy has become the frontrunner among all other renewable energy technologies over the last decade. Variation in wind speeds affects the energy conversion to a great extent. For maximum energy conversion to occur, the generator speed must be controlled. Various types of symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults are induced in the system in which DFIG is connected and the response is analyzed. To protect the DFIG during such faults, crowbar implementation is done using fuzzy logic controller in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The voltage and current in the system considered during such faults is also measured.
