Abstract
Biodiversidade Brasileira (BioBrasil), from the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation – an autarchy linked to the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) – launched its first edition in 2011. Since then, it has sought to keep itself up to date with technological innovations and guidelines referring to the good practices of scientific journals, to achieve the necessary quality for a scientific publication, being an attractive information vehicle for researchers and useful for readers. Despite the difficulties that a public administration journal goes through, such as change of government, lack of resources and lack of an exclusive team for editorial processes, I present BioBrasil's successful experience and the strategies used to leverage publication, making it increasingly (re) known, inside and outside the institution.
