Le An

Abstract

This chapter talks about the fourth Saigon sister, named Le An. It provides an overview of her youth, from when she scorned her mother for coming from a family that adored everything French and for being a lady of leisure, to her admiration for her father who worked as an engineer in public works for the French. It also details Le An's participation in the protest over the death of a student killed by French authorities in 1950. The chapter looks into the event of Le An joining her father and friends in the resistance, where she adapted to life in the jungle. It emphasizes Le An as being a close second to Thanh in terms of political zeal among the sisters.
