Abstract

A medium formed by arrays of metallic wires can transmit, magnify, and de-magnify near-field distributions with sub-wavelength resolution. It is shown that sub-wavelength images with a resolution of one-fifteenth of a wavelength can be transferred to a distance of three wavelengths with a threefold magnification/demagnification.
