Abstract
This paper gives the Performance Analysis and Mitigation of Power Quality Issues with Hybrid B–STATCOM in 140 Bus Distribution System Connected To SCIG Wind Turbine. It is an important task to maintain the power quality within the system operating limits and facilities in a distributed power grid. In the developed 140 bus system a hybrid battery energy storage system and STATCOM (BSTATCOM) with hysteresis current control strategy is proposed for an inverter to improve power quality with an exchange of current and voltage simultaneously. The operation mode switches a flawless transfer of the operation mode from grid-connected to stand-alone or vice versa. The outside of an islanded bus voltage loop and inside B – STATCOM inverter current loop, controllers are designed using h current control strategy with three phase and four wire system. The injected currents are clean, balanced and free from harmonics. The islanded bus relives from the main power supply and the demand of reactive power supplied from the squirrel cage induction generator and B – STATCOM follows the rules of grid operation as per IEC 61400 – 21. The control scheme of 140 bus distribution power grid connected SCIG wind energy system verified using simulation MATLAB/ SIMULINK power system block sets.
