Letelier Diplomacy

Abstract

Part of the Letelier investigation tries to extract cooperation from the Pinochet government, which rejects any responsibility and feigns assistance. US diplomats such as ambassador to Chile George Landau become embroiled in the investigation, confronting an important Cold War ally over a violation of sovereignty.
