Abstract
The stability assessment approach for networks with distributed generation by the voltage magnitude at the nodes is proposed. The voltage stability margin factor is used as the main criterion. Unlike existing methods, the voltage value is estimated both for load nodes and for energy sources nodes. This approach can be used for low and medium voltage microgrids, as well as virtual power plants. Analysis of voltage levels requirements in various countries has been fulfilled. A voltage stability assessment algorithm for microgrids has been developed. The algorithm is based on a comparison of the measured voltage with a critical voltage value at each network node. The algorithm effectiveness depends on the accuracy of determining the critical voltage and the selected value of the voltage stability margin factor.
