An automate approach of optimal pad arrangement for horizontal wells in bitumen deposits

Abstract

Summary This paper discusses an approach to automate the process of optimal pad arrangement for horizontal wells in bitumen deposits, to reduce the total costs of surface infrastructure. The authors proposed methods for determining the positions of horizontal wellheads, combining them into well pads and design the well profiles. When combining wells into groups, surface and technological limitations are taken into account.
