Baik di Kabupaten maupun kawasan agropolitannya terdapat lima komoditas terbesar pada subsektor perkebunan, yaitu lada, karet, kelapa, kelapa sawit dan kakao. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan komoditas mana yang akan menjadi komoditas unggulan yang mampu menjadi sektor penggerak perekonomian Kawasan Agropolitan Mendo Barat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui survei, wawancara, dan pengamatan, serta studi literatur dari dokumen-dokumen yang tersedia. Metode analisis penentuan komoditas unggulan dilakukan dengan menggunakan perhitungan Location Quotient (LQ) dan Metode Bayes untuk melengkapinya. Hasil perhitungan LQ menunjukkan komoditas lada dan karet memiliki nilai LQ > 1, artinya Kawasan Agropolitan Mendo Barat dapat swasembaga komoditas lada dan karet. Hasil analisis Bayes dari lima komoditas tersebut menunjukkan lada merupakan tanaman yang memiliki prospek paling tinggi untuk dikembangkan mulai kesesuaian lahan, penerimaan masyarakat, peluang ekspor, harga komoditas, dan keterkaitan dengan hilir yang kuat. Meski demikian, masih ada terkerbatasan modal usaha dan penguasaan teknologi budidaya maupun pascapanen. Komoditas kedua yang layak dipertimbangkan adalah karet, di mana tanaman ini memiliki kesesuaian lahan yang tinggi, peluang ekspor yang masih tinggi dan memiliki areal tanam yang terluas. Selain itu adanya dukungan dari pabrik pengolahan di lokasi. Di sisi lain, komoditas karet sangat dipengaruhi oleh fluktuasi harga di dunia, sulitnya pemeliharaan tanaman serta penguasaan teknologi pascapanen.\nBangka Regency has plantation areas that have been developed with large investments spread across the Districts of Puding Besar, Bakam, Belinyu, Pemali and West Mendo, wherein there is the West Mendo Agropolitan Area. In both the regency and its agropolitan areas, the five largest commodities are in the plantation sub-sector, namely pepper, rubber, coconut, oil palm and cocoa. The purpose of this research is to determine which commodities will become flagship commodities that are capable of becoming a driving sector for the economy of the West Mendo Agropolitan Region. Data collection was carried out through surveys, interviews and observations, as well as desk studies of the available documents. The analytical method for determining superior commodities is carried out using Location Quotient (LQ) calculations and the Bayes method to complete the LQ analysis. The results of the LQ calculation show that pepper and rubber commodities have an LQ value of > 1, meaning that the West Mendo Agropolitan Region can be self-sufficient in pepper and rubber commodities. The results of the Bayes analysis of the five commodities show that pepper is a plant that has the highest prospects for development, starting from land suitability, public acceptance, export opportunities, commodity prices, and strong downstream linkages. However, there are still limited business capital and mastery of cultivation and post-harvest technology. The second commodity worth considering is rubber, where this plant has high land suitability, high export opportunities and has the largest planting area.
