Abstract
Based on the principle of demodulation-remodulation technique a novel detector for the angle modulated lightwave signals is presented. Wideband nature and better noise squelching p roperty of the d i sc r imin a t or have been demonstrated through computer simulation results. I. INTRODUCTION In recent years a lot of activities have been observed in the area of broad-band distribution of video signals over fibre optic link. One of the approaches that is currently being tried, is the use of single o ptical carrier ultilising subcarrier multiplexing technique, where a large number of frequency mu1 tiplexed microwave carriers which modulate either the intensity ox the frequency of a lightwave carrier using a high-speed semiconductor laser. Both the non-coherent and coherent techniques of reception have been proposed. Very recently Gross and Olshansky [ll have proposed a detection scheme of an angle modulated lightwave signal with the help of a delay-line discriminator. In contrast to this technique o f reception, we propose a tracking/coheren t optical discr-iminator . That the proposed system has a better modulation handling capability and signal - todistortion ratio (SDR) will be
