Assembleias legislativas da região nordeste: Um estudo sobre a lei de acesso à informação

Abstract

The Information Access Law (IAL) was created with a purpose of strengthening social control exercised by citizens over Public Administration. This study objective is to evaluate compliance of IAL by Brazilian Northeast region Legislative Assemblies, based on the information disclosed in their websites. This is a bibliographic and descriptive case study. Its objective is classified as exploratory research, whose data collection took place directly from sites of those legislative houses, from a predefined set of documents and questions. The consolidated result of this research shows a low level of transparency by Assemblies surveyed, and it is possible to conclude a much greater concern with complying with formality required by law than with the quality of information and its understanding by citizens.
