Abstract

This paper presents a new power converter topology based on the operation principle of switched reluctance generator (SRG) in order to improve the output power of SRG at low speed. According to different speed, the new power converter can work in two modes: full winding excitation mode and partial winding excitation mode. Simulations and experiments based on a single-phase switched reluctance wind power generator with U-shaped stator cores are carried out to validate the feasibility of the proposed converter, and the results show that the new power converter can increase the output power and improve the efficiency of SRG at low speed.
