Abstract

This paper presents a topological change of the power stage and an adaptation of the control method of a three-phase water pump drive supplied by photovoltaic energy. Because it is a product-oriented project, the modifications have proven to be very advantageous since they indicate a considerable reduction in the final cost of the equipment. Such a reduction is mainly due to the use of lower voltage power switches and the removal of high frequency elevating transformers. In addition to the topological improvements, the adaptation of the control method allowed a significant improvement in the reliability and robustness of the system operation, functioning without interruptions due to partial shading and without overvoltage in the DC bus during startups with extreme conditions of irradiation.
