Abstract
In this paper, an antenna design has been proposed which supports multi-band frequency ranges for handheld devices i.e., WLAN (5.2 GHz), Bluetooth (2.4 GHz), etc. The input impedance of the antenna is 50Ω. FR4 is used as a substrate having permittivity 4.4. The proposed design has a compact size which is compatible with the present handheld devices. Planar Inverted-F Antennas or simply PIFA are mostly used in hand held wireless devices due to their compact size, good bandwidth and moderate radiation patterns. The thickness of the antenna is λ/7, where λ is the free space wavelength of the central frequency i.e., 5.2 GHz.
