Abstract
Hierarchical modulation technology and probabilistic shaping technology have been widely studied in recent years. However, there is conflict when they are adopted simultaneously in optical communication system. A hierarchical probabilistic shaping scheme is proposed to avoid the incompatibility problem. This algorithm effectively reduces the nonlinear effect and improves the bit error rate performance compared with hierarchical modulation according to computer simulations.
