Abstract

The article presents a robotic system for simultaneous rehabilitation of the upper and lower limbs, which includes diagnosis, exercise, training and therapy of the human limbs. The results indicate that the robotic rehabilitation system has advantages not only in the passive motion therapy, but also in the active-through-resistance therapy as it is able to precisely navigate the limb in its three-dimensional range om motion. The construction and working principles of the robotic system are also presented in the article. The proposed in the article motion therapy does supports the work of physiotherapists in rehabilitation procedures that are monotonous and requires a significant human effort. The reported robotic rehabilitation system was developed as a result of the experience generated by the REHAROB EU funded Project.
