40 years of EuMC and beyond

Abstract

This paper presents a short review of the 40 year history of the European Microwave Conference (EuMC). After reviewing the origins and evolution of the conference and the technical landscape in microwaves at the beginning of the conference in 1969, the changes in the technical programme over the lifetime of the conference to date are briefly reviewed. Some topics have proved of durable importance, others have faded in significance over the years while new topics continually emerge. The authors are confident that the EuMC is in good health at this significant milestone in its development and that it can look forward to many more years as a successful scientific and industrial event of global significance in the field of microwaves.
